Kind of
Nutritional yeast is not an adequate substitute for cheese.
While this Mac and cheese was yellow
It didn’t taste yellow
It tastes brown
Like the cardboard box it came in
Or perhaps the cardboard it was made out of.
The texture was all wrong
The smell was just strange
It looked like velveeta
But clearly wasn’t the same.
All I wanted was some Mac n cheese
Well kind of cheese
Cheese with less moo
Cheese with no cow
Nutritional yeast all the blogs raved
A tall tale they did weave.
Nutritional yeast is not a substitute for cheese
It tastes of cardboard
Of sadness
It mocks my childhood memories
Of my favorite snack in that blue box
It mocks my old age
My stomachs inability to digest dairy
Or soy
Or any acceptable substitute
Instead I am stuck with nutritional yeast
Or no Mac and cheese.
