How Disney Changed My Life

We all have defining moments in our lives, most of them don’t involve major corporations, but one of mine does. Disney literally changed my life. I loved Disney growing up, every break we would drive or fly from New Hampshire to Florida to visit my grandparents who were snowbirds in Ft. Lauderdale. We would always made a pit stop in Disney World, sometimes only for a day, sometimes for longer. I grew up with that being our winter vacation spot every year.Most of my childhood photos involve Minnie or Figment, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I grew up loving all things to do with the main mouse.

When my mother had a heart attack and had to retire early, we avoided a party and instead took a week trip to Disney World. It was our happy place. It was always my happy place. We went after my father died, we went when I got sick. When I couldn’t go I would listen to the park cds you used to be able to buy.

I went away to college in Boston in 2001. That was a major life moment, for the first time I was living away from home, it was a big city, it was exciting. I learned about the Disney College Program on campus, and on 9/11 I was set to head off the the Prudential Center in Boston to learn more and possibly apply.
