P-Terry The Pterodactyl

Sometimes I get silly at dinner and make up stories. My daughter hates this, I give my characters voices, usually that of a southern lady. I goof around and make up impossible scenarios.

I sprinkle my new characters in to stories we all love, which upsets her more, because “THAT IS NOT HOW THE STORY GOES”. She clearly does not understand fanfiction…yet. Which is hysterical when you know her, and know she had made her own character within the Star Wars universe, with a backstory and everything.

However, P-terry the Pterodactyl was just pushing things too far, by going to places like Ponyville, Pigfarts, Hogwarts, Narnia, Avengers Headquarters and S.H.I.E.L.D. All of P-Terry’s friends have P names and are animals that start with P, and want to go on strange and wonderful adventures.

I am sad that she at 8 can write a research paper with no qualms, but listening to Mom be silly about P-Terry and his adventures with Petey the Piranha and his Pregnant Kitty Girlfriend, Priscilla who lives in the Pussy Willows near the beach in Panama, is just plain unacceptable. “MOM stop being so weird, that would NEVER happen”.

I remember being in second grade, we published our own books. We wrote crazy and silly stories, illustrated them, and then the teacher bound them for us. Schools aren’t doing that. Right now she is writing a one page typed…
