A Poetic Response To The Pain

Below is poetic response based on Bit’s words about school, the playground, the pain, the exclusion of being different.

You’re different

All the kids on the playground taunt

All I want is to be like them

Be able to play and climb

But no, I can’t

It hurts too much.

So I sit on the sides and watch

They taunt and poke fun

Teasing my to join along.

The teacher comes by

To try to cheer me up

Brings me inside,

We draw pictures

And write stories together

About how one day when they are famous athletes

I’ll be a famous painter, or writer

Or maybe even a doctor

Fixing kids like me

So they won’t be taunted

When they are on the playground.

They won’t need to sit on the sidelines

They will play and run and climb

But ’til them they can paint and draw

Just like I have.

They say I’m different

But I think I’m special

And even lucky sometimes.

I want to fix the world

Not hurt people

Just because they are a little different.
